A Second Glance on B.C. -Green Timbers Park-
All my life i lived in British Columbia, and I
never thought much about the phrase “Beautiful British Columbia”. This phrase
is on our licence plates, in our mind-sets, and something visitors from other
countries all seem to agree on. Like many others who have lived here from
birth, we agree with the statement, but we may not understand the contrasting
perception that other people have. I decided today to go to Green Timbers Park,
and look for these mystifying moments in natural beauty. Normally when i go to
this park, I simply look out to the lake and watch the wildlife, but today I
decided to soak it in, just a bit more.
Enjoying the setting 2pm sun
While most of the time it rains here, catching the
sun in all it’s glory is quite rare, and these birds clearly know that too. Even
while I approached these birds, they did not react in the slightest.

The leaves may have fallen, but the
beauty has not.
While it is fall, and many leaves fallen, I was
allured to this section of scenery. Normally I walk the same path, over and
over, going in a circle, then returning to my vehicle. Yet, the basic landscape
of this park, with its fall colours and vast sky was uplifting. British
Columbia, all year long, never loses it’s natural beauty.
When i was younger, me and my father would come to
this park frequently. The thing we would primarily do is fish. However, we
never actually caught a fish. But that never stops people. Every time I’ve come
here, I see fishermen waiting for their next big catch. I’m always slightly
envious (but happy for them) when they’re able to catch a fish. There are
always people in this park, it’s never empty (even when it’s raining), and that
kind of popularity to a park this small really gives you a sense of community
that British Columbia offers.

The perfect still lake, reflects all.
Of all things in the park, the lake is the most perfect.
There are no currents, no boats, no swimmers; the only thing that disrupts the
lake are the birds and fishers. Viewing a lake from this angle is something not
even a camera can capture, but we always try to anyway. The stillness and peace
that this lake exhibits truly proves the phrase “Beautiful British Columbia.”
